Walter Meyer, 84, of Napoleon died early this Sunday morning at his residence.

 

  Walter A. Meyer, 84, of Napoleon, Ohio died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at his residence. He was born March 20, 1925 in Adrian, Michigan to the late John W. & Anna M. (Wiebeck) Meyer. On June 5, 1955, he married Eleanor "Elly" C. Weddleman at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Florida, Ohio.
  Walter was employed at the Napoleon Egg Auction as a truck driver and federal egg grader for several years.  He then worked for Snyder Chevrolet in Napoleon in the parts department for 23 years until his retirement in 1988.
  Walter was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where he served as past president of the Parent-Teacher League, congregation president and vice president, treasurer, stewardship secretary, and church elder.  He was a member of the Lions Club in Napoleon and was named a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International in 2005.  Walter loved fishing, cars, general mechanics and the challenge of making things work properly.  He loved celebrations with his family; especially those  including chocolate cake, his favorite.
  Surviving is his loving wife, Eleanor, of Napoleon; daughter, Ann (Allen) Werk of Batavia, New York; grandsons, Philip Werk of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Samuel Werk of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Ernest (Helen) Meyer of Norwalk, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a sister Elda Younglove.
  Visitation will be at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon on Wednesday, December 9, from 2-5 and 7-9 PM and 1 hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
  Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Ohio with Pastors Peter Marcis and Charles Kramer officiating.  Interment will follow at the Florida Cemetery in Florida, Ohio.
  The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Henry County, the Lions Club Sight Center, the Henry County Retired Teachers Foundation/ Lois Griffith Book Grant  or to a charity of the donor's choice.
