Robert "Bob" Coressel, 77, of Malinta, Ohio died Tuesday evening, December 8th, 2009 at the Henry County Hospital in Napoleon, Ohio.
Robert "Bob" J. Coressel, 78, of Malinta, Ohio died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Henry County Hospital in Napoleon, Ohio. He was born in Defiance on July 9, 1931 to the late Valentine & Mary (Hoff) Coressel. On December 27, 1951, he married Ruth (Weber) Coressel in Holgate.
Bob was a foreman for the Ohio Department of Transportation, retiring in 1998. He previously worked for C.F. Mengrink & Sons, C.F. Gerken & Sons, and Vern Nagel Construction.
Bob was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Hamler, the Bevelheymer-Gilliand American Legion Post #400 of Malinta, American Legion 1st District Commander from 2001-2002, 1st District Chairman for American Legion Baseball, Vice President of Chapter 105 Retirees P.E.R.S., Board member for the Henry County Senior Center, and Mayor of Malinta. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; children, Marvin (Lois) Coressel of Hamler, OH, Deborah (Thomas) Wright of Powell, OH, Robert "Rob" Coressel of Oklahoma City, OK, and Sharon Coressel of Deshler, OH; grandchildren, Stefanie Miller, Shelly Grant, Shawn (Eric) Sonnenberg, Faye (Jacob) Gladysz, Shannon (Austin) Summers, Holly Coressel, Samantha Coressel, Stacie Coressel, and Dustin Coressel; great grandchildren, Alexis Miller, Audrey Sonnenberg, Austin Sonnenberg, Drew Grant, and Braden Hall; sister, Joanne Bartley of Carlton, MI; and special friends, Curtis (Holly) Badgley of Malinta. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Coressel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Hamler. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Riverview Memory Gardens of Defiance, where military honors will be accorded by the Malinta American Legion.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon with a scripture service held at 7 p.m.
The family suggest memorials to American Legion Child Welfare Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
