Arthur H. Chase, 81, of Napoleon, Ohio died early Saturday morning at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.

 

 Arthur H. Chase, 81, of Napoleon, Ohio died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.  He was born July 2, 1928  in Detroit, Michigan to the late Hasley and Lucy (Harrington) Chase.  On July 5, 1968, he married Wanda "Jean" Duff who survives in Napoleon, Ohio.
  Arthur retired from Local 626.  He began his career on February 13, 1957 when he was hired at Campbell Soup; he became the Secretary-Treasurer of the former Local 146 on February 1, 1968 and held this position until June 1, 1982.  Art was the 2nd Vice-President of the merged organization. He maintained that office until his retirement.  Art's allegiance to the union movement and his belief in what it represented were the foundation of his career in labor.  He was affiliated with the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Napoleon.
  He is survived by his wife, Jean; and children, Susan Chase of Toledo, Ohio, Harvey (Jodi) Chase, Julie Chase, Steve Chase, Arthur Chase, Jr., and Carla Teel, all of Delta, Ohio, Debbie Baer of Swanton, Ohio, Peter (Connie) Chase of Ashville, North Carolina, Ellen (Mike) Whitman of Erie, Michigan, Stephen "Craig" (Marie) Duff of Kenton, Ohio, Timothy (Lisa) Duff of Fairfield, Pennsylvania., and Paulette (Chuck) Carpenter of Napoleon, Ohio; brother, Rev. Kenneth Chase of Holiday, Florida; sister, Doris Rath of Whitehouse, Ohio; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two grandsons; sisters, Pauline Kirksey, Vera Lemons, Agnes Riley; and brother, Henry Chase.
  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, Ohio  with Rev. Kenneth Chase and Rev. Lindy Maurice-Saum officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Napoleon.
  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
  The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, St. Paul United Methodist Church, or to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
