Bernard G. Sheely, Sr., 81, of McClure died Sunday morning at the Grand Rapids Care Center.
Bernard G. Sheely, Sr., 81, of McClure, died Sunday morning, January 10, 2010 at the Grand Rapids Care Center. He was born August 14, 1928 in Liberty Center, to the late Orville L. and Anna (Mapes) Sheely. On September 6, 1948 he married Florence Reinbolt , who survives in McClure.
Bernard worked as a sales representative for Meyers Crop Center, Milton Center and Tontogany Farmers Elevator. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of McClure and a member of the McClure American Legion Post #332. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean War.
He is also survived by daughters, Linda Chamberlin of McClure, and Jeanne (Patrick) Jeffers of Grand Rapids, and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Sheely of Deshler, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and a sister, Rosamond Hendrickson of Bradner. He was preceded in death by a son, Bernard G. Sheely, Jr., brothers, Lyman and Forest Sheely and sisters, Pauline Butterfield and Ina Wyckhouse.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in McClure with Pastor Richard Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Hockman Cemetery in McClure, with military honors by the McClure American Legion Post #332.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home in McClure.
Memorials are to be made to the Henry County Transportation or to Henry County Meals on Wheels.
