Roger P. Johnson, 62, of McClure, Ohio died Monday afternoon, February 8, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio.

 

  Roger P. Johnson, 62, of McClure died Monday, February 8, 2010 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma.  He was born June 13, 1947 in Napoleon to Floyd “Eldon” & Zelma (Jennings) Johnson. On September 26, 1970 he married Mary Ann Kistner at Westhope Bible Church.

Roger owned and operated Johnson’s Repair of McClure, where he served the community and surrounding counties for over 40 years. He was a life member of the NRA, member of the Henry County Pheasants Forever and the McClure American Legion.  He was a former member of Westhope Bible church and faithfully attendee of the Bethany Baptist Church.  He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 4 years. Roger loved to hunt and trap, hunt for arrow heads, and most importantly spend time with his family.  His grandsons, Colton and Cale Green, always gave him hope and helped him endure daily with his illness.

  Roger is also survived by his loving wife,  Mary Ann Johnson, mother, Zelma Johnson of McClure; daughters, Jennifer (Nathan) Richards of Weston and Julien Johnson of Galloway; 2 grandsons;  brothers, Ray Johnson of Portland, OR, Victor (Deloris) Johnson and Dennis (Cindy) Johnson, both of Napoleon, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, host of friends, and his church family.  He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd “Eldon” Johnson.

  Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. on Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home in McClure and Saturday 1 hr prior the funeral at the church.

  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church 14070 Bailey Rd. Grand Rapids, OH 43522. Interment will follow at Hockman Cemetery in McClure where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Coast Guard and McClure American Legion.

  In Lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to “The family of Roger Johnson”, so they may distribute them as they wish.
