Vernon F. Panning, 75, of Deshler, Ohio died Saturday morning, May 8, 2010 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio.

March 13, 1935-May 8, 2010Vernon Fredrick Panning, 75, of Deshler died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.
He was born March 13, 1935 in Harrison Township, Henry County, Ohio to Henry and Pauline (Meyer) Panning. On July 27, 1963 he married Ruth M. Schwiebert at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler.
Vern graduated in 1953 from Deshler High School and in 1957 from Defiance College with an accounting degree. He then served 6 years with the Ohio Air National Guard, Swanton, Ohio. He was a farmer and had also worked at the Appliance Center, Maumee, Ohio and for the Deshler Farmers Elevator.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler; the church's Men's Club and a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He was also a member of the Bavarian Club, Henry County Farm Bureau and an advisor for the former Bartlow Pioneer 4-H Club.
Vern is survived by his wife, Ruth; his mother, Pauline; four children, Julia Hafner, Deshler; Stephen (Sarah) Panning, Denver, Colorado; Kevin (Michele) Panning, Phoenix, Arizona and Catherine (Dustin) Feller, Wolcottville, Indiana; four grandchildren, Sarah Hafner, Michael Hafner, Benjamin Hafner and Dakota Feller; brother, Ron (Kathleen) Panning, Columbus, Indiana; and two sisters, Bernadine (Carl) Higbea, Defiance, Ohio and Ruth Ann (Howard) Romaker, New Carlisle, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father; a daughter, Kristen Panning and brother, Herald Panning.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler with Pastor Thomas Smuda officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery and a luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m on Wednesday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the church, the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
