Raymond A. Meyer, 91, of Hamler, Ohio died Monday morning, May 31, 2010 at Vancrest Health Care Center of Holgate.

   Raymond Alvin Meyer, 91, of Hamler, died Monday morning at Vancrest Health Care Center, Holgate.  
   He was born August 14, 1918 in Monroe Township, Henry County, Ohio to the late Herman and Sophia (Gobrogge) Meyer.  On July 31, 1942 he married Wilma Cordes in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and she survives.
   Ray graduated in 1936 from Marion Township High School and served with the 43rd Division of Company H 172nd Infantry Regiment during World War II.  He served in the South Pacific and was aboard the USS Coolidge when it sank in the New Hebrides.  He received the Bronze Star.
   Ray was a farmer and also worked at the Campbell Soup Company, Christman Brothers Builders and Norden Painting.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler and former elder and trustee; member and past commander of Warren L. McIntyre American Legion Post 262, Hamler; member of Hamler Summerfest and Bavarian Club, Deshler.
   He is also survived by three daughters, Marilyn Wilkinson, Fort Wayne, Indiana; Carol (Ron) Zugay, Dandridge, Tennessee, Debra (Jim) Stover, Napoleon; five grandchildren, Kristin (Mike) Roberts; Matt (Lindsay) Zugay; David (Jamie) Wilkinson; Angela Zugay; Eric (Jessica) Stover; and 9 great grandchildren, Robbie, Michaela, Zach, Simon, Caleb, Maya, Caden, Caitlyn and Leo.
   He was preceded in death by sister, Emma Ness, brothers, Otto, Walter and Alvin Meyer and son-in-law, Rick Wilkinson.
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler with Pastor Douglas Dewitt officiating.  Graveside services with military honors accorded by Warren L. McIntyre American Legion Post 262 will follow in the church cemetery. 
   Visitation will be from 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Friends of the Hamler Library.
